Free barcode generator
Generate a barcode in any of 14 symbologies and download it as an SVG. There is no signup, no email wall and no watermark — and the encoder is the same one that renders the labels this product prints, so a value it accepts here is a value that will print.
Any ASCII. The general-purpose default.
Encodes cleanly.
Generating a barcode is the easy part
Any generator can turn a value into bars. What decides whether the label scans is what happens next: how small you print it, what resolution the printer runs at, and whether anything crowds the clear space around the symbol.
A barcode has a minimum X-dimension — the width of its narrowest bar — below which it stops being read reliably. A printer can only place whole dots, so if that narrow bar is not a whole number of dots at your printer’s resolution, it gets rounded, and every bar in the symbol shifts with it.
The X-dimension calculator works out whether your printer can hold a given symbology at a given size, and each symbology reference page lists the minimum size and quiet zone that symbology needs.

Questions
- Is there a watermark or a usage limit?
- No. The SVG you download is the finished symbol, there is no watermark, no signup and no limit on how many you generate. Use them commercially without attribution.
- Why does it say my value cannot be encoded?
- Each symbology has its own character set and length rules — EAN-13 takes 12 or 13 digits and nothing else, Code 39 has no lower case. The message tells you which rule the value broke. It is the same check the editor runs as you type.
- SVG or PNG?
- SVG, because a barcode is line art and resolution matters more here than almost anywhere else. An SVG stays exact at any size, where a PNG resampled to fit a label is how bars end up a fraction of a dot wider than they should be.
This tool runs the same checks the editor runs while you design a label — against your printer’s real resolution, on the stock you actually bought.
